W. Michael Owen is the Managing Member of Owen Capital Investments LLC (OCI) and holds a BA in Economics and a MBA in Finance from the University of North Texas (UNT) and is known as Mick to friends and family. OCI provided a portion of the start-up funding for A List Partners Management, LLC (ALPM) and also provided funding for some of its operational expenses and asset acquisitions. From time-to-time OCI may choose to participate in other loans and projects where ALPM takes the lead.

Mick has been an entrepreneur since 1971 including experience as a real estate investor and developer. As such, he has witnessed first-hand several up and down market cycles during that time span and understands the importance of taking a balanced approach to his personal investment portfolio. His entrepreneurial and financial background helped him develop a favorable tax strategy used in his real estate investing activities that was approved in a Private Letter Ruling from the IRS.

His personal investment philosophy is that cash flow and long-term appreciation are the two major constants and of primary emphasis in the investing decision making process, while tax strategies should be considered secondarily and in the short-term since they are subject to changing political winds.

Since 2000, Mick has been actively involved in developing and investing in Internet-based assets or what he calls “virtual or web properties” to compliment more traditional investments. These “virtual properties” are diversified as e-commerce sites, niche specific interest blogs, authority sites, Internet marketing services, and website hosting and development among other categories. Mick has two sons who help manage his business interest and Internet properties. He is also a “beta tester” working with GoDaddy to develop some of their new products and strategies for professional domain investors such as himself.

Faith, family, and friends are very important to Mick. He is involved not only with his local Church but also with his community. For ten years, he worked countless hours each week as a volunteer along with his wife and other family members, serving as Director and later as an adviser to subsequent Directors, helping establish a youth sports ministry in his local community serving up to 500 kids and their families each year. He and his family have also been involved in helping support a local community youth theater non-profit among other organizations in the North Texas area.

As a native Texan, with a family history in Texas going back to the days of the Republic, his love for the land and for his Texas heritage led him to become involved at an early age as a lifetime member of both the American Quarter Horse Association and the Houston Livestock & Rodeo where he indulged his passion in breeding and training registered quarter horses for cutting horse competition.
